Just WOW! Everything was spectacular. Hard to decide what I loved more — my head spa treatment or blow out. I got the Diamond, and wow, the scalp and body massage were both exceptional. My scalp was squeaky clean and my hair shining for days. Can’t believe you get a facial too! Not to mention every product I use was here. Park Cities’ new GEM!

Medical FAQ's
Can a head spa help if I have traction alopecia or damage from chemical processing?
Early-stage traction alopecia is often reversible, but recovery depends on two things: removing the mechanical or chemical stress, and supporting the scalp while vulnerable follicles attempt to heal. Head spa therapy reduces the inflammatory load around affected follicles, stabilizes the scalp barrier, and provides a structured maintenance cadence so progress is not lost between visits. Late-stage traction that has progressed to scarring is more limited, so early intervention matters. Your therapist will monitor your scalp screen at each visit and recommend escalation if needed.
I'm under a lot of stress and my hair is shedding. Can a head spa help?
Stress triggers a hair cycle disruption where a large number of follicles enter the shedding phase at once, typically two to three months after the stressful event. The shedding is usually temporary, but "temporary" does not mean the outcome is the same for everyone. When follicles re-enter growth, they do so in whatever scalp environment exists at that point. Head spa therapy calms scalp reactivity, reduces inflammatory burden, and supports circulation during the recovery window so hair returns in a more stable, supported environment. Your therapist will recommend more frequent visits during active shedding (every 2 to 4 weeks), then transition to maintenance as the scalp stabilizes.
Does The Head Spa work with my doctor or dermatologist?
We see our role as complementary to medical care, never a replacement for it. For clients managing autoimmune conditions like alopecia areata, oncology-related hair changes, thyroid-related shedding, or other medically driven hair loss, we coordinate with your physician's guidance. Medical treatment addresses the systemic trigger. Head spa therapy addresses the scalp environment that follicles need to recover. Your therapist focuses on reducing inflammation, clearing buildup, and maintaining conditions that support healthier regrowth. We begin treatment only when your care team confirms it is appropriate.
Head Spa Services
How much does a head spa cost?
Sessions range from $79 to $289 depending on the tier you choose. Pearl is $79 for 20 minutes, Sapphire is $149 for 50 minutes, Emerald is $209 for 80 minutes, and Diamond is $289 for 120 minutes (includes a luxury blowout). Membership holders receive additional savings on services and retail products.
Which tier should I start with?
Most first-time clients start with the Sapphire ($149, 50 min). It gives your therapist enough time to run a full Microscopic Scalp-Skin Screen, walk you through the findings, and build a home care plan before you leave. If you want to experience the service before committing to a longer session, Pearl ($79, 20 min) is a solid starting point.
What is the Microscopic Scalp-Skin Screen?
Your therapist examines your scalp and follicles under magnification before your treatment begins. The screen identifies buildup, oil imbalance, dryness, inflammation, and follicular health issues that determine how your therapist designs your protocol. It runs again at the end of your session so your therapist tracks progress visit to visit. Every tier includes it, from Pearl to Diamond.
What is included in each head spa tier?
Every tier includes the Microscopic Scalp-Skin Screen and a full Japanese massage bed experience. Beyond that, each tier builds on the one below it.
Pearl (20 min): Choose one focus (Reawaken, Repair, or Scalp), Metal Detox Shampoo, Kerastase Fusio Repair, Botanical Cooling Cuticle Seal, and Ultra Hydrating Conditioner. You leave with a wet ponytail or braids.
Sapphire (50 min): Everything in Pearl plus an Exfoliating Scalp Scrub, Medical Grade Facial Cleanse, Jade Healing Mask, Hydration Facial and Mask, Soothing Foam and Steam, heated pressure point massage, a Personalized Hair Tea, and a rough dry.
Emerald (80 min): Everything in Sapphire plus LED Follicle and Collagen Stimulation, Deep Scalp Massage, Face Lifting Massage, Healing Eye Mask, Advanced Hydration Facial, and a Professional Hair Repair treatment.
Diamond (120 min): Everything in Emerald plus Hyaluronic Pore Cleanse, Cryo Globe Therapy, Advanced Enzyme Facial, and a luxury blowout included in the session.
For full service details, visit the Head Spa services page.
How often should I get a head spa?
Your therapist will recommend a schedule based on your scalp screen findings. As a general guide: active inflammation or shedding calls for every 2 to 4 weeks, corrective stabilization every 4 weeks, and long-term follicular maintenance every 6 to 8 weeks. Consistent care produces the best results over time. Our blog post on the benefits of a head spa explains why regular visits matter.
What should I do before my head spa appointment?
Come with clean or lightly styled hair if possible. Avoid heavy styling products the day of your visit. No other preparation is needed.
What is the difference between a head spa and a regular scalp treatment?
A salon scalp treatment typically involves a shampoo, conditioner, and brief massage. At The Head Spa, every session starts with a Microscopic Scalp-Skin Screen that identifies buildup, inflammation, follicular narrowing, and barrier damage before your therapist designs your protocol. You also receive therapeutic massage, facial care, and a written home regimen. Read our full breakdown in What Is a Scalp Treatment? A Clinical Guide.
What add-ons and enhancements are available?
You can customize any session with enhancements including Pressure Point Massage ($15), Customized Scalp Serum ($15), Gua Sha Facial Lifting($30), Hot Stone Therapy($30), Ultra Hydration Facial Mask ($40), Red Carpet Non-Peel Chem Glow($60), and Exosome-Salmon Facial($105). Membership holders receive monthly add-on credits to apply toward these.
Blowouts
What is a blowout?
A blowout is a professional, non-destructive hair styling service where your stylist washes, blow-dries, and styles your hair using round brushes, professional tools, and finishing products. You leave with salon-quality volume, smoothness, or texture that lasts. No cutting, no coloring. No Stress
How much does a blowout cost?
Luxury blowouts start at $55. Extensions, textured hair, or extra-long hair may need additional time, priced at $20 per 15 minutes.
How long does a blowout take, and how long will it last?
Most blowouts take 45 minutes to an hour. Clients typically get two to four days out of a blowout. Using a silk or satin pillowcase, avoiding moisture, and skipping heavy products between visits helps extend the hold. Read our full guide: How Long Does a Blowout Last?
What makes your blowouts different from a blowout bar?
Every appointment starts with a complimentary Microscopic Scalp-Skin Screen (a $99 value). Your stylist uses the results to select products from four professional lines (Kerastase, Milbon, Color Wow, and Moroccanoil) based on what your hair actually needs. All staff are trained Clinical Scalp Therapists who follow a 60-point blowout protocol. Most blowout bars in Dallas skip the scalp evaluation entirely. For the full story, see What Is a Blowout?
Can I add a head spa treatment to my blowout?
Yes. You can book a head spa session that includes a blowout (Diamond tier), or add enhancements to a standalone blowout appointment. You can also add a Kerastase Fusio Repair($50) or an Extended Scalp Tension Massage($15 for 10 min).
What is the Kerastase Fusio Repair?
A professional-strength, customized hair treatment with 36 targeted combinations. Your therapist selects the formula based on your scalp screen results and strand condition. It repairs damage, strengthens fiber, smooths cuticle, and delivers visible results in one session. It is our number one client add-on. Learn more on the Kerastase Fusio-Dose Treatment page.

What are add-on credits, and how do they work?
Every membership includes a monthly add-on credit (ranging from $10 to $45 depending on your tier) that you can apply toward premium enhancements like advanced facials, scalp therapy, hot stone massage, and hair growth infusions. You also earn bonus add-on credits when you purchase additional head spa services within the same month. The bonus amount depends on the tier of the additional service you book.
Is a membership worth it compared to paying per visit?
If you plan to visit monthly, a membership pays for itself through the included session alone. The retail discounts (15% to 20%) and monthly add-on credits add further savings. For clients who also want regular blowouts, the Crown Jewels and Black Diamond tiers combine head spa sessions with four blowouts per month at a significantly lower per-visit cost.
Are there blowout packages if I don't want a monthly membership?
Yes. We offer blowout packages: a 6-pack for $330 (includes 1 complimentary Fusio Kerastase Repair, $50 savings) and a 12-pack for $660 (includes 3 complimentary Fusio treatments, $150 savings). Packages can be redeemed within one year of purchase.
Booking & Appointments
How do I book an appointment?
You can book online through our booking page, call us at (469) 660-8187, email schedule@theheadspa.com, or message us on WhatsApp. We also offer a free consultation if you are not sure which service is right for you.
Do you accept walk-ins?
Walk-ins are welcome for blowouts when availability allows. For head spa sessions, we recommend booking in advance since treatments require dedicated preparation time and reserved blocks with your therapist.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that any changes to your appointment be made as early as possible. Cancellations made more than 48 hours before your appointment will not incur a fee. Cancellations within 48 hours incur a fee equal to 50% of the scheduled service value. Cancellations, rescheduling, or no-shows within 24 hours incur a fee equal to 100% of the service value. We understand when unexpected situations arise and do our best to accommodate genuine emergencies. Full details are on our Cancellation Policy page.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear whatever you are comfortable in. We provide everything needed for your session, including a full Japanese massage bed experience. Avoid wearing tops that are difficult to pull away from the neckline, as your treatment includes shoulder-to-hairline massage work.
Hair Types, Conditions & Safety
Can I get a head spa with any hair type?
Yes. Our therapists are trained to work with all hair types and textures. The Microscopic Scalp-Skin Screen evaluates your individual scalp condition, and your protocol is customized based on what the screen shows. No two clients receive the same treatment.
Can I get a head spa if I have extensions, braids, or a sew-in?
Head spa treatments require direct access to the scalp. Extensions, braids, and sew-ins can obstruct the scalp surface and limit what the therapist can do. Contact us before booking so we can advise based on your specific situation.
Will the treatment affect my color or keratin treatment?
The products we use are safe for color-treated and keratin-treated hair. However, if you have had a chemical service within the past week, the detoxifying process during your head spa session may cause some lifting. We recommend waiting at least one week after a color or keratin treatment before booking.
Can a head spa help with hair thinning or hair loss?
Head spa therapy is not a medical treatment for hair loss, but it addresses the scalp environment that follicles depend on. Consistent sessions help reduce microinflammation, clear buildup, and support circulation, all of which contribute to healthier follicle function over time. Read more in our blog post: Do Head Spas Help with Hair Loss?
Research from the American Academy of Dermatology confirms that scalp health plays a role in hair retention, and studies published in peer-reviewed journals have shown that standardized scalp massage can increase hair thickness.
What about hair shedding related to GLP-1 medications or rapid weight loss?
GLP-1 medications (like Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro) and rapid weight loss can trigger a type of temporary shedding called telogen effluvium. The shedding is a cycle disruption, not permanent damage. Head spa therapy supports recovery by stabilizing the scalp environment, reducing inflammatory load, and maintaining conditions for stronger regrowth while your body adjusts. Your therapist will tailor your visit frequency based on the severity of shedding and your recovery timeline.
Can a head spa help with an oily, itchy, or flaky scalp?
Yes. These symptoms are often signs of microinflammation, oxidative buildup, or scalp barrier disruption. Head spa therapy targets these root causes through structured detoxification, barrier support, and anti-inflammatory protocols. Clients with these concerns often notice improvement within the first few sessions. Maintenance visits every 4 to 8 weeks help prevent flare-ups from returning.
Is a head spa safe during pregnancy?
We recommend consulting your doctor before booking. Our treatments use professional-grade products, and some ingredients (certain essential oils, for example) may not be recommended during pregnancy. If your physician approves, your therapist will adjust the protocol to use only pregnancy-safe products and techniques.
Is a head spa safe during or after oncology treatment?
We work with clients experiencing oncology-related hair changes, and we begin treatment only when medically approved by your physician. Our approach focuses on scalp comfort, barrier support, and creating favorable conditions for regrowth. Your therapist will coordinate with your care team's guidance to keep the protocol safe and supportive. Sessions are structured in phases: gentle recovery support first, followed by regrowth optimization, then long-term maintenance.
Products & Retail
What products does The Head Spa use?
We work with four professional lines: Kerastase, Milbon, Color Wow, and Moroccanoil. Product selection is never random. Your therapist chooses from these lines based on your Microscopic Scalp-Skin Screen results and the specific needs of your hair and scalp that day.
Can I buy the products used during my session?
Yes. We carry retail products from our professional lines in the studio. Membership holders receive 15% to 20% off all retail purchases depending on their tier.
Do you offer product returns?
Products can be returned within 60 days of receipt, provided they are unused, unopened, and in original packaging with seals intact. Refunds are processed within 3 to 5 working days after we receive the return. We do not offer exchanges. Full details are on our Return and Refund Policy page.
